Trust Registration

As per the Public Trust Act of all states, registration of Trust is mandatory if it involves charitable purpose or when there is a transfer of immovable property in the name of the trust. Only registered trust is eligible for tax exemptions provided under Section 12 A and 80G of the Income Tax Act.

Society Registration

A society registration can be done for the development of fine arts, science, or literature or else for diffusion of purposeful knowledge or charitable purposes of political education. According to section 20 of Society Act, 1860, a society registration can be done for following purposes: Promotion of fine arts, Diffusion of political education., Grant of charitable assistance, Promotion of science and literature etc.

NGO Registration

The national authority in India allows for online registration of an NGO under three laws:

  • Trust under Public Trusts Act of each state.
  • Society under the Societies Registration Act 1860
  • Section 8 Company under the Companies Act, 2013
